Scenes of Ashland: The Shakespeare Festival Theatres, the Thanksgiving Festival of Lights, and a production of Idiot's Delight

Quite simply: Ashland is one of the most remarkable places you're ever likely to find. Innkeepers here consider it our responsibility and good fortune to see every production that the Oregon Shakespeare Festival mounts. Many of our guests have a similar commitment. But there is so much more to Ashland and to the Rogue Valley.

The Ashland Chamber of Commerce has a lovely resource page for people visiting the area. Here are some of their choice links, as listed below.

•   Arts and Activities

•   Dining

The Chamber has a great list of Ashland's excellent, diverse and eclectic restaurants, but in addition we would also recommend: the Cellar Café at Allyson's of Ashland (where the Innkeeper has both taken and taught cooking classes) and New Sammy's Cowboy Bistro at the north end of town.

•   Events

•   Galleries and Museums

•   Parks and Recreation

•   Services and Transportation

•   Services

This is a great link, with information on everything from Ashland's mouth-watering selection of new and used bookstores, to spas and outdoor markets; don't fail to check it out. This valley has gorgeous terrains for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, river rafting, horsebackriding, biking, golfing, running and swimming; this section covers it.

•   Wineries

The Chamber's site doesn't go into a lot of detail, but there are a number of notable wineries here, including Paschal, Griffin Creek, Weisinger's, Valley View and Hillcrest Orchard's RoxyAnn Vineyards. If you saw Napa in the 60's, this valley will bring you back to those days. The Rogue River Valley now has its own appellation, which has been deemed comparable to the Bordeaux region in France.

In addition we would like to recommend the following websites:

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival
The Britt Music Festival
Southern Oregon University
Southern Oregon Historical Society
