                      News of the Inn
2009 wrap-up
The Albion's innkeepers, Cyd and Gary, are happy to report that our first
year under new ownership went very well. We were delighted to meet and
serve every person who walked through our doors. Many thanks to
everyone who came and contributed to the inn's success.

Improvements
One big goal in 2009 was to listen to our guests' feedback and to
implement all the suggestions for improvement we possibly could. Here are
some of 2009's guest-prompted improvements:
  • newly installed sound insulation between the two Courtyard rooms
  • screen doors for the two Courtyard rooms
  • password-protected wi-fi connection
  • baking tips for the chef and killer cookie recipes
  • magnifying mirrors in the rooms

Other improvements we've made include:
  • newly painted guest suites
  • new bedspreads throughout
  • all old feather pillows replaced by new hypo-allergenic pillows
  • Temperpedic memory-foam mattress toppers in the three upstairs
    rooms
  • even more wii games in the playroom, including Beatles Rockband

Special Guests
  • Three of our guests "completed the canon" last season, finishing up
all of Shakespeare's plays with OSF's 2009 season. Let us know if
any in your party will be seeing their final play by Will, so we may join
    your celebration!
  • We were happy to host some young troubadours passing through
Ashland last summer as they rested midway through their long fund-
raising hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. "Trek for Troops" (Paul, Matt,
and Scott) entertained guests at the breakfast table each morning of
their stay with original ballads and tight harmonies.
  • As always, in February Albion Inn hosted a fillmmaker in town for the
    Ashland Independent Film Festival.
  • Several sweet dogs accompanied their people last year. They were
    all good dogs.
  • The Albion hosted a lovely English couple here to exchange
diplomatic gifts with the Mayor of Ashland from Shakespeare's
    Theatre in Stratford on Avon.

2010 updates
In July, the King Family held their 12th annual Girls-Only Retreat at the Inn.
Two generations were here, headed by matriarch Janet King of Oysterville,
WA. Aunt Sheila Wallace of Oysterville accompanied Janet. The younger
generation was represented by sisters Gretchen Ryan, Kathleen Twomey,
Melinda Grow, and Sarah King. Daughters-in-Law included Pat King, Lynn
King, and Cindy King.

Going to the dogs? A video of the innkeepers' dogs, Franny and Zoey, is
"going viral" on youtube--78,110 views and counting. Go to youtube and
search for "Dogs Howling on Bed" if you're interested in seeing it.

Cyd's niece, Leslie, and her
friend, Lee, stayed at the Inn
for several weeks in early
Spring. They painted the
upstairs rooms as well as the
outside of the Courtyard
building and the porches.
Many thanks to Leslie and
Lee! We and the dogs miss
their cheery faces.

The pet-friendly room is working out well. Here's Pat and her friend Beverly
